Keeping our team members safe is our top value. We made significant investments in safety trainings and improved controls in 2023, leading to a record safety performance across Mark Anthony Brewing.
We cultivate a diverse and inclusive culture by hosting engaging activities for our team members, celebrating what makes each of us unique, and recognizing excellence through the Mark Anthony Brewing Awards.
Our investments in state-of-the-art facilities and our spirit of continuous process improvement drive efficiency across energy and water use, propelling us ahead of industry averages.
Our Columbia, SC team member park is a shining example of our commitment to being good community stewards. The park is a certified habitat for native plants and animals as well as a place for team members to relax and recharge in nature.
Our packaging uses recycled materials wherever possible and is sourced from high-quality suppliers. We survey suppliers annually to track recycled content across all categories. All virgin fiber is certified by the SFI or FSC, ensuring responsible forest management.
We actively minimize landfill waste through targeted process improvements and strategic partnerships. On average, we recycle approximately 650 tons of yeast waste per month by collaborating with local partners to create more fertile soil to increase crop growth and yield. Additionally, we continuously evaluate and refine our brewing and packaging processes to increase byproduct recovery and reduce overall waste.
We are committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety risks through proactive measures, effective training, and continuous improvement. Our goal is to foster a culture where safety is a shared responsibility, and every team member is empowered to contribute to the well-being of the workplace. We offer the ability to complete advanced safety trainings such as OSHA Compliance Training and First Responder Training (CPR, First Aid, AED).
We support women in brewing, which is why we recently sponsored a cohort of women and allies to attend an in-person event through the Alliance for Women in Beer. This event provided an opportunity for our talented team members to connect and discuss their shared experience in the industry. We also organized a women in brewing executive panel, where leaders shared their personal experiences and key insights as women leaders in the business.
We are grateful for the sacrifices made by veterans in our communities and around the country, and we appreciate the skills they can bring to new careers. Each veteran team members brings unique capabilities to the workplace, and we remain committed to supporting their employment goals. Our support of veterans happens through programs like the Department of Defense’s SkillBridge Program, Hiring our Heroes, and Veterans ASCEND. These initiatives establish connections between the military community – including service members, military spouses, and veterans – and businesses, creating economic opportunities and a more diverse workforce.
Supporting learning and development of our team members is essential. We recently launched our Global Learning and Development Team to drive our future DE&I investments and create a workforce that has the skills to thrive in an inclusive and diverse environment.
As part of our ongoing efforts to combat climate change, we are committed to continuously innovating to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. By operating state-of-the-art machinery, optimizing brewery utilities usage, and utilizing real-time energy monitoring tools, we have achieved a 19% reduction in energy intensity (MJ/HL) over the past two fiscal years.
Our investments in CO₂ recovery technology and rail infrastructure to receive bulk raw materials allow us to capture and reuse over 20,000 tons of CO₂ annually, while eliminating emissions from over 4,600 trucks taken off the roads each year. These efforts not only reduce operational risks but also significantly lower our environmental footprint.
These results, coupled with our team’s continued diligence, ensure we are well on our way to achieving our 2030 sustainability targets and making a positive impact on the planet.
Water is the most critical resource required to make our products, and we recognize the need to use it efficiently and respectfully. We implemented advanced treatment systems during the construction of our breweries to enable our water management strategies. We also seek to minimize the amount of water we withdraw to support our water management strategy.
We are on a waste management journey rooted in circularity, meaning we recognize the importance of minimizing the amount of materials we contribute to landfills. Our aspiration is to create a culture of resource optimization through partnerships and leading practices.
Across our Glendale, AZ and Columbia, SC locations, we have allocated over 162 acres of property as natural, recreation, or agricultural area, meaning they are free from structures or impervious surfaces.
We are committed to sourcing top-quality ingredients while upholding strong sustainability standards across our supply chain. In 2024, 24% of the glass containers we used were made from recycled content, and 87% of our aluminum cans were composed of recycled aluminum. Additionally, 100% of the virgin fiber used in our packaging was certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), ensuring responsible forest management practices.
As part of our packaging reduction efforts, we eliminated Hi-cone plastic ring carriers from four million cases of product, resulting in the immediate removal of 776,000 pounds of packaging annually. This change supports our broader goal of reducing single-use plastics and minimizing our environmental footprint.
In Chicago, our team provides support to migrants and underprivileged families through the harsh winter months. We also support individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty and despair though a year-round meal packaging initiative for underserved communities.
The Columbia Brewery donated wreaths to Wreaths Across America, honoring the gravesites of Veterans who have fought for our freedom. Several of our team members had the privilege of assisting Fort Jackson in laying these wreaths at the final resting places of these brave men and women.
